    NaNoWriMo Empty NaNoWriMo

Post by Roxanne Sat Oct 18, 2008 1:46 pm

NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, is an event/challenge where you must write a novel of 50,000 words (175 pages roughly) over a month. Bonkers? Maybe. Do-able? Yes. It's lots of fun if you enjoy writing.

The challenge will begin on November 1st. The site is accepting sign ups now.

This is the site - [+]

For anyone who wants tips, tricks, hints, and help with the challenge there is an online book written by a participant of NaNoWriMo - [+]
(You will need acrobat reader in order to read it).

For those of you who are under 17 and think 50,000 words is insane then maybe the Youth Writer NaNoWriMo is for you. The challenge is the same except you can choose your own word count goal.

This is the site - [+]

Hopefully, anyone who chooses to participate in this event/challenge will post their novel up here, on Literary Lounge. ^_^!

Is anyone thinking of trying to enter NaNoWriMo?

I am and I'm really looking forward to it!

    NaNoWriMo Empty Question

Do you have to start your story on November 1st, or can you have a premade story to enter?

Just found out - You can, if you want to, do something you've already started but you shouldn't count what you've written before hand in your word count for November.

I have another question: Where do you post parts of your story on Nano?

You don't post parts of your story on NaNo. What happens is after you write it in word or something is: you put it on NaNo to have bots verify that you have over 50,000 words. NaNo doesn't keep or read any of the stories. That way if you wanted to publish it no one will have stolen your idea or your writing. ^__^ You can put a short synopsis or/and a short extract in your profile though.

To verify the word count you have to have an account and it's located in "Novel Info" in the "My NaNoWriMo section". It's a simple copy and paste job.

You can only verify inbetween the 25th and 30th of November but you can keep updating your word count as you go along etc.

    *major bump*

It's almost that time of year again! NaNo is in less than two months- I'm planning on writing my third or fourth novel during that time. This'll be my first Nano. Anyone else doing it this year?
