Magical Manifests Roleplay!

[PLOT]
As you can tell by the title, this roleplay is all about magic. If you've ever seen the show Charmed or the show Buffy, you may know a bit about magical beings. Basically, in this world, there are three types of "humans". The first is the mortals, those who live on the world as just normal humans, these people know nothing about the magical world at the beginning of the story. Next, there are demons and evil humans, such as vampires. These may have started out human (like vampires), but were either bitten or scratched (werewolves) and became creatures that kill humans. Lastly, there are mortals with special gifts. These humans have an average lifespan but they also have abilities that normal humans do not have, such as a magical power or "the chosen slayer". I know that in Buffy there is only one slayer, but in this roleplay, things will be chosen a bit...differently.

[BEING A NON-NORMAL HUMAN]
I know that most people will end up wanting to be either a witch, slayer, demon, vampire, etc, but for now, everyone will start out as a human, witch, or demon. Afterall, most of the time, humans are not born with power but show the effects later, and vampires and werewolves aren't born, they are created. When creating your character, the format to apply for being a vampire, werewolf, or slayer will be shown. Witches and Demons can automatically be created, since they are not uncommon and are necessary. The rest will be explained in further detail in the character thread.

[RULES]
Yes, I know there are tons of rule threads, but rules are there for a reason, and these will be useful to know.

1. Please do not kill off another character without permission. I know this should be automatic, but the fact is, you can't go killing someone's character or an NPC just because you're mad at that roleplayer.

2. Please wait either two-posts or at least two hours before posting. No, this does not mean that you can double-post, it simply means that either you can wait until two people post after your post, or you can wait two hours after one person posted after your post. This way, we don't have a period when two people are roleplaying for about an hour because they each post ten minutes after the other person's post.

3. Please post IC (In-Character) posts only. If you wish to say something about the roleplay, take it to the roleplay's designated discussion forum, and if you wish to talk about something random, take it to the General Discussion forum.

4. When roleplaying with another roleplayer, do not use that person's character unless you have permission. We all want our characters to act a specific way, so even if you do get permission, please use that person's character according to their personality.

5. No God-Modding. Your character is not invincible, so making them have the power of invisibility or indestructibility is not going to work out. You need to keep your character on a level playing field with the other characters, so limit your powers to those listed in the character thread.

6. Have Fun! I'm not going to say this twice, so please just enjoy the roleplay. It's only a roleplay and it's nothing to get worked up over.

Stella walked briskly towards her house, she always hated nighttime. After seeing what inhabited this town at night, she was in no mood to deal with any of that. Stepping as lightly and quietly as she could, Stella attempted to make no sound. She could hear shuffling, but assuming it was her own feet, she continued on, clutching her necklace tightly as she walked, now nearly at a jog. The shuffling continued, and Stella paid no attention to it, she was only three blocks away from her house. After finally realizing that the shuffling sound was nearing, Stella stopped abruptly, and the body behind her clambered to a stop just a few inches away. Stella could feel the hot breath of whoever, or whatever it was right behind her, and she slowly turned around, her wavy hair flowing delicately into place.

"What the hell?" Stella said when she saw that the figure was gone. Panic filled her every breath and step as she walked slowly the rest of the way home, checking behind her every few minutes to see if the figure had come back. Whether she was glad to have the person gone or worried that they might have gotten ahead of her, Stella was unsure, but she was filled with bliss when she saw her small cottage ahead, its blanched white door glistening in the moonlight.

Fumbling around for her keys, Stella finally found the silver key with "Home" etched on it. She smiled and stuck it in the lock, letting it click into place before twisting the key twice. She then pulled her key out, wrenched the door open, and fell inside, quickly locking the door behind her. With so many mysterious murders occuring in her neighborhood, Stella couldn't help but be fearful and careful.

Stella was safe, at least for the night. After checking all the windows and doors and finding them still sealed, she collapsed onto the couch, too tired to go upstairs to her bed, and too scared to begin her nightly routine.

Luna kept her hood up and looked at the ground as she shuffled her way through the busy town that night. It was a cold night but there wasn't a cloud in the sky and all of the stars were visible. Lights flashed on nearby buildings, young adults queued to enter night clubs and walked into bars. Luna pushed her way through a crowd and kept moving. The crowd began to laugh behind her and Luna sped up her pace. Luna finally relieved that she had arrived at the nearby park pulled down her hood. She glamoured into an owl and flew up into a nearby tree.

Luna didn't sleep she merely watched anyone silly enough to go walking in the park at midnight. No one appeared after the first few hours and there wasn't a single disturbance in the surrounding area. Luna was tired but she felt so out in the open. She flew into the night and sought out a tree in someone's back garden. Near to the park was a large house with a suitably large tree in it's backyard. Luna flew straight for the tree and settled herself on a high branch and slept peacefully.

Nighttime, a calm peaceful time on Wyvern Road. The one time when children weren't running around, screaming for their mothers, or shouting at others because of stolen toys. The one time when parents weren't arguing, but were fast asleep, nestled in their beds. For Storm Vivienne, nighttime was the perfect time to play baseball with her brothers. It's the one time when the field isn't crowded, and the time when she is able to just relax after a long day.

"Stormie, catch!" called a young man, throwing a baseball in the girl's direction.

The girl jumped up and caught it in her right hand, and threw it back. Her aim was perfect, it landed in the man's hand. The girl smiled, her short black hair starting to fall out in wisps around it her face. It was coming out of the ponytail she had put it up in. Her gray eyes shined in happiness, to her, she was improving. But to her brother, the young man, she was already perfect.

"Sheesh Storm, you should join a baseball team. Any guy would let you join their team if they knew how good you are. You should seriously play with them during your lunch break!" said the young man, jogging over and sweeping the fifteen year old into his strong arms.

The girl laughed, and squirmed, trying to get out of her brother's iron grip. She slid out of his arms easily, and landed on the floor with a soft thud. She looked up at him and smiled, a warm smile.

"No thanks Julius, I'll pass. I don't like showing off at school. Especially since I prefer to be a bit more on the quiet side at school. I'm just not as out-going there." she said, her mouth curving into a curved line.

"Ok, fine. You can do what you want, I'm not going to force you. How about we do one more throw, and then we head home? Lukas and Paul are probably done with making dinner now, so we can eat and then either go to bed, or just do something." Julius suggested, his long black hair also falling in wisps aroud his face; it was coming out of its ponytail also.

"'Kay!" Storm said, rushing away towards the middle of the field.

Julius threw the baseball as hard as he could, straight for Storm. Storm was ready though. She caught the ball with both hands, and giggled in delight. She did it, she caught one of Julius' hard balls. That was a true achievement for her.

"I did it!" she squealed happily, running over to her brother who caught her in a hug again.

He gave her a kiss on the forehead, and then released her. The two walked away from the batting area, and headed home. Once home, they met up with the other brothers, who had dinner all ready. After eating, they all sat on the sofa, and just talked. Storm, the only girl, snuggled up to her brothers, happy to be all together with them.

"Y'know, my life is perfect, and it's all because of you guys. I don't know what I would do without you." sighed Storm.

"And we have no idea what we would do without you. Love you Storm." Charlie replied, brushing the hair out of his little sister's face.

She sighed, and closed her eyes. Three older brothers, all at least 20 to 30 years of age, two loving parents, one large house, a perfect batting place, a nice school life; yes, life was good. Heck, for Storm, it really was perfect.

Stella awoke the next morning in a cool sweat, mostly because of the fact that her air was on and she had a nightmare. Of course, nightmares were common for Stella, so she took a shower before getting dressed and heading to school. She plugged in her ipod after she headed out the door and turned on her favorite playlist, alternative music.

School was such a dreary routine for Stella that it came as a surprise when someone stopped her halfway to school. She took out one headphone as the woman began to speak. She looked a little stern, her coarse brown hair was in a tight bun and she had on dark glasses. She was wearing dress pants and a neat blouse and everything about her meant business.

"Stella? God, I've been looking for you forever. You are a difficult girl to find, ya know?" The woman said cheerily. Stella looked at the woman with bewilderment, she sounded way to perky for the attire she was wearing.

"How do you know my name?" Stella asked plainly.

"Because, I was sent to find you, Silly!" The woman explained cheerily.

Silly? Stella couldn't believe this, a loon was definitely out to get her.

"Look, lady the mental hospital is about a block away, I'm sure you can find answers there," Stella said with a sigh and continued walking.

"No, I'm looking for you. I have to tell you, I'm supposed to," The woman began, but it was too late, for Stella had brushed past her and walked briskly, quickly disappearing as she turned down the street.

"Psycho," Stella muttered before continuing to school.

The following morning Luna flew down from the tree she had slept in and glamoured back into herself. She sighed. Luna was never bothered by being alone except on those few and far inbetween days when the sensation creeped up on her. Today would be one of those days. "You're way too relaxed," a voice muttered from behind her. The lonely sensation that had been creeping up on her vanished and melted into anger. Someone had snuck up on her and she didn't want to find out who. She turned, glamoured into a tiger and stared at the demon now in front of her. She ran at him swiping away with her large claws but he simply flamed away, chuckling. Luna snarled and then changed back into herself before someone noticed and panicked, probably calling the zoo before they passed out. She looked around the empty park and then dashed off in the direction of the nearest populated place she could think of.

The same demon would flame in and flame out every time she felt she could relax a little. He never attacked or protected himself. Once Luna had managed to get a swipe at him leaving a large scratch across his face. As she thought of the scratch she had left she smiled to herself. Luna soon found herself stumbling across a populated school field. She groaned. Luna taught herself these days or didn't learn. It's not like getting a job, house or anything else like that was a priority to her. She waited in the center of the large field until it had cleared completely. She then sneaked behind a tree and glamoured into a cat.

Luna was hoping that, like last time, someone would see her as a stray and take her home. It killed the lonely sensation for a while and she felt she could be a little more relaxed as the demon wasn't likely to flame in to anyone's house. She stalked around the school for a while not staying in one place for too long. When lunch time came around she stalked into the middle of the field looking at all the different faces. She meowed loudly when some stepped on her tail. The boy that had stepped on her tail was large and very tall. He looked quite strong. The boy seemed to scare her more than the demon at this point. She meowed and made to run when the boy picked her up by the tail. She continued to meow in protest as she fought to be free. She was being held close to his face and she could see the number of spots that covered it. 'Eww..' she thought to herself as she struggled to get free. She began to claw at his arm but he did not want to let go. Being held upside down by the tail was now beginning to hurt more than she expected and the world seemed to be spinning.

Stella didn't want to go to school. Nothing mattered at school and she'd much rather be doing something useful, like finding information on how to get rid of a stalker. So when lunch finally came she was glad to have an escape. However, the escape didn't last as she saw a boy around her age holding a cat by its tail. She sighed, why was cruelty so fun to teenage boys?

So Stella decided to wait and see if the boy would drop the cat or continue to toy with it. She made the concious decision to step in if the boy didn't leave the cat alone, so she waited. After all, saving a cat was better than staying at school.

"I would help that cat if I were you," the woman pestered.

"Great, you again. Are you just a pest that will go away if I ignore you, or do you actually stay until I listen?" Stella asked annoyedly.

"The second one. Listen to me, you are special. You must know it, the fact that you feel compelled to help people in trouble---"

"Stop right there. I do not help people, it's a cat. Besides, the one time I helped a human was because something had attacked it so I helped them to a hospital. Didn't help me much though because the human was gone the next day, they said she had escaped," Stella said with a sigh. She was going to have to smack this woman if the pestering persisted.

Luna still hanging upside down by her tail and staring down at the large boy holding her hissed and meowed loudly. She'd given up on trying to scratch him for the time being. She began thinking of her options and hoped for some to come and help her. Scratching and biting didn't work and hissing and meowing just seemed to entertain him. She couldn't change with him staring right at her and all of these people around.

She was about to go into a flurry of scratching and biting when he almost threw her on to the floor. She was about to turn and run when she looked up and a girl was having a word with him. 'Huh' she thought. She watched for a few more minutes accusing herself of being crazy for hanging around. Not only that considering what he had just done the first thing a normal cat would have done would have been to run but she stood at the feet of both the boy and the girl.

After she had finished talking with the boy the girl looked at Luna oddly before picking her up. Luna hoped for the best and didn't struggle to get away. The girl seemed nice enough.

Stella sighed and looked at the cat in her arms. She was a very pretty cat, but there was also something off about her. She began to walk home when the strange woman approached her again.

"What'd I tell you?" The woman remarked smugly.

Stella glared at her. "Yeah well why did you tell me to help the cat?"

"Because my dear, it shows that you have something in you. If there were not a third human in our prescence I would divulge more but I am afraid I will wait until we are...alone," the woman said and looked one last time at the cat before turning to walk away.

"Third human?" Stella said to the cat and scoffed. She looked around and saw no one so she continued to walk home, the cool fall air adding to the eerie chill she already had.

Storm sat in the hallway of her school building, waiting for everyone to leave the classroom. She had a meeting with a teacher to do with sports, because her teacher was going to try once again to convince her to play for the school team. And like always, Storm was going to politely decline.

She knocked on the door when all the students had left and entered the room, gazing at the scene in front of her. Her PE teacher wasn't standing there, someone else was. She had no idea whom it was though, so she shyly shut the door behind her and waited to be addressed.

"Ah yes, Storm Vivienne. Come in, come in." said the man, grinning strangely. "I've heard all about you from your teacher. He's ill by the way."

"Oh, ok." Storm mumbled, stepping closer.

The young girl was getting an off feeling from this entire setting, something was very strange about it. This man wasn't there earlier, and her PE teacher had just been in school a few minutes before. Something was very wrong about this. She glanced around her, looking for an exit and quickly trying to think of an excuse to get out of there.

"No no, you can't leave yet little lady. I'm not through with you." the man chuckled, looming over her.

"What?" Storm squeaked, hunching over.

The man placed his hands on her shoulders and pressed her down against her chair. She shivered, his hands were ice cold. She looked at the man again, who looked different from before. There was something different about him, a creepy different. He grinned and licked his lips in a hungry manner.

"Let me go!" Storm shouted, struggling to get away.

"Not yet darling, not until I've been satisfied." he hissed, before lunging at Storm's neck.
She felt a prick along her throat, and then another, and then she blacked out, just as a woman ran into the classroom, her hands glittering strangely.

OoC:I know about rule 3 and the one about being a normal human, but I can't build Sai properly if I can't start as a Slayer. Just delete if you want.

It was a simple day outside, nothing special seemed to be happening, because, of course, this town had been abandoned just like all the rest. Sai was the only one who stayed here, since he could keep himself alive. It was more or less just a daily routine now, since the vampires had not cut any of the power or anything, but they were prowling the streets sometimes, at night, so Sai did all of the necessary during the daytime. As usual, his first thing to do was to simply get food for the week, considering it was already Wednesday, he needed to re-supply. He went to the supermarket first, since the food there still seemed edible and it was the best he could do. He sometimes escorted delivery trucks there, so that he could carry on there. His next order of business was to send the same message, simple as that.

"I can protect you. This is a haven, not a chopping block. All those that want to survive have to come here."

After he sent the message, he took a look around the small, totally out of the way town called Slaire. Very few people knew about this place, since it wasn't on any map, nor was it on a highway. But people who needed this place would find it, since Sai had created a sign that shone brightly at night, beckoning them to the town.

After his work through the day had been completed, Sai continued his planning, to go into a more populated area, since vampires never stayed in one place for more than 3 months and it was getting near to that time. As night fell, he stashed away the papers and walked outside. It was time for practise.

Stella threw her backpack onto the couch when she got home, then set her new friend down gently. She was a beautiful cat, but there was something odd about her. She gave off a strange vibe, and while Stella had never believed in a feeling before, she felt this. She looked at the cat for another moment until the doorbell rang.

It was that woman again. Stella reluctantly opened the door and let the woman inside.

"She's still here, I see. Probably because you haven't let her out of your sight, am I correct?" the woman asked kindly.

Stella nodded and watched the cat cautiously. "I can't describe it, but I feel like if I look away, she'll leave or escape or something," she said.

"Great instinct," the woman muttered under her breath. "About the leaving, you would be right. This cat is no ordinary cat, it has magical powers. I believe it glamours, which may mean that it's a witch or a healer. Some higher leveled healers can glamour, but I've never seen a healer so...ferocious either," the woman said, trailing off at the end.

"Witches? Healers? That's insane, those types of things don't exist," Stella said with a laugh.

"Stella, we don't have much time. I know that you think that they don't exist, but they do. Actually, vampires exist too, and that's what I need to tell you about. Don't get that look, once I explain you can gripe all you want," the woman said sternly.

"My name is Calista Terion. I am one of few slayers, vampire slayers that is. My job is to protect humans from harm by evil. However, I am getting older and need to pass on the torch. You, Stella, are the girl who is destined to take over. The chosen one. There are few other slayers like you, most I have known usually have fought off evil for many years and just don't realize. However, you didn't grow up the normal way, either. Anyways, I know this is a lot to digest, but we need to act quickly. The apocalypse could begin at any moment, and while I know there are other slayers out there, your previous knowledge with defense and attacking is far more advanced than I have ever seen. And your instinct. Not to mention, I think there's more to you, if we can just release it..."

"I'm....the chosen one? That's...amazing," Stella said with a pleased sigh. She had never been anything in her life, and now she was the one who could fight evil?

"That's a different reaction than most. Yes, every generation, two slayers are born, one male, and one female. The male is usually very strong but not agile, which the female is both agile and has good instincts. Both are ruthless and great battlers, and you are the female slayer. It's strange really, both slayers living in the same city, and both of them so close in age?" Calista said with a sigh.

Stella smiled to herself. She was important, and more than that, she was different. She knew it her whole life, and now she had proof.

First, I have a few questions about this...." Stella said calmly.

Luna listened intently. This woman, Calista, knew vaguely who she was and talked of other things that she had heard of before but Stella seemed reluctant to believe it all. Luna growing bored with listening to things she already knew decided to have a look around Stella's home.

Once Luna had finished inspecting the house she settled in the hallway but it wasn't two minutes before she heard a faint laughter that sounded familiar. 'He wouldn't,' she thought as she moved towards the kitchen.

"She'll soon know everything so don't feel safe just because you're here," he whispered as she went into the kitchen and jumped up on to the side. Luna hissed and made a jump for his face despite being a small black cat. He flamed away as she landed on another side knocking a plate. Without thinking about Stella and the woman she glamoured into herself and tried to catch the plate.

The plate slipped through her fingers and smashed. Luna's eyes widened and she looked for an escape.

Stella, after hearing the crash, rushed into the other room, only to find a young woman standing before a broken plate. The woman looked oddly familiar, and Stella was almost reluctant to attack the woman. Almost, but not quite.

"Who are you, and what are you doing in my house?!" Stella exclaimed angrily. Calista calmly walked into the scene, "You better tell her. She may look small, but trust me, she's tough," the woman said. She looked at the young woman kindly, as Stella wondered what kind of charade these two were trying to pull.

"Wait, you know her?" Stella said, her anger slowly bubbling over.

"Why yes, and so do you," Calista said plainly. Stella looked at the woman in utter bewilderment. She didn't know the intruder, she would surely remember her, after all, Stella didn't know many people.

"I wouldn't say you know me but you brought me here," Luna began. "I'm Luna - the cat. Calista is right, I can glamour. However, I am not a healer - I am a witch. I usually live out on the streets but occasionally I look for a safe place in the form of a cat. I would have left eventually but not as soon as Calista presumed. Unfortunately, I have just discovered, you know a lot and so I'm not as safe as I thought I would be so I will be leaving unless there is something else you want me to explain?"

Luna began to pick up the bits of broken plate. She hadn't meant to let it smash. "Sorry about your plate," she muttered. Stella looked angry or confused - Luna wasn't sure which. They stood in silence for a little longer in the kitchen.

Stella was bewildered beyond explanation. She didn't understand this magical world, it was too hard, to complex. But she knew that she had to stop Luna, if she was ever going to talk to someone besides Calista about magic.

"Wait. Can't you stay awhile, help me understand. Calista's alright, but you're closer to my age, and can probably explain it better," Stella pleaded. She wanted more than anything to just go back to yesterday, but now that she knew her destiny, she knew that she wanted to jump in with both feet.

Stella stared Luna down awhile, hoping that if she stared long enough, Luna would stay, at least until Stella felt confident enough to go out.

Luna bit her lip becoming uncomfortable with Stella staring at her. "You may not believe it, hell I didn't believe it at first, but many of the things you thought never existed, exist. Witches, demons, whitelighters or healers, vampires, and werewolves." Luna began. Stella stopped staring and instead looked at her intent on listening to what she had to say. "Like I said, I'm a witch and my power is Glamour - it means I can shape-shift into anything or anyone I want to." As Luna explained herself she shape-shifted into Stella. "The only problem is if I try to Glamour into another person... well..." Luna as Stella was almost perfect except her hair colour was completely wrong - it was still Luna's red hair colour. "Flaws. I haven't had much practise with Glamouring into people - I prefer Glamouring into animals." Luna Glamoured back into herself.

"Anyway, that's enough about me, as Calista said, there is something big going on but not just with the Vampires but with the Werewolves and the Demons as well. It's the job of people like you and me to protect the people who don't know about all of this and to keep the bad guys, for lack of a better word, at bay..." Luna went quiet because she felt she had said enough and also at the mention of it being her 'job' reminded her that throughout her entire life she had not made one effort to look out for anyone but herself. Other times when she had felt like this she would usually put it down to her power not being the type of power she should fight demons with but she knew now that would not be a good enough excuse in Calista or Stella's eyes.
