    Literary Lounge Newsletter #1
    June 16th, 2009

This is Literary Lounge’s first Newsletter. In various sections of the Newsletter there is a lot of content and in other sections the content is sparse. This is either due to the New Year activity drop giving me very little to write about or it is due to various sections of the Newsletter requiring content the members have submitted but you can’t submit content until you know what you have to submit and how to do it – that is what those sections of the Newsletter will cover.

    Enjoy!

    Harvest Moon Through The Ages

They’re looking for a fresh start, so they got it. Toya, Shayla, Pyra, and Stella moved into Mineral Town. Shayla moved onto the small farm on the outskirts of Mineral Town. Toya, the paranoid thief, managed to get herself a place to stay with Zack and Won as well as a job shipping the produce from Shayla’s farm and a few other places by simply dropping in on them – quite literally. Stella, who recently moved from a California city, rented a room at the Inn.

The next day, Toya headed to Forget-Me-Not Valley after deciding that she would have plenty of time to explore where she lived another time and whilst she did her job. On her day out, she found out that she wasn’t the only thief in the area after eaves-dropping on a conversation two people were having.

Shayla spent her first real day in Mineral Town sorting out her home with the help of Zack after he delivered her ‘house’ package. She also spent some of her day talking with Rick who offered to show her around the town the next day.

Stella, who had been trying to sunbathe at the beach, was disturbed by Ethan – unfortunately he made a very bad first impression on her with his supposed ‘witty comments’. It also seems he has a ‘thing’ for her.

Pyra finally found the inn and rented a room. She spent the remainder of her day hanging around the room and glancing out of the window.

Towards the end of the day Toya returned to Mineral Town to collect the shipment from Shayla’s Farm – she successfully stole some of the things that Shayla had shipped and she also stole 100G of shipping payment money from Zack.

Stella spent her evening being introduced to the rest of the people at the bar that night and attempting to have a conversation with Ann and Gray.

Will and Miranda on the other hand moved to Waffle Town on the 2nd of Spring. Will spent early hours of the morning fishing before finding himself returning a horse to the stables of Brownie Ranch later on in the day.

Toya, intrigued by the thief of Forget-Me-Not Valley, once again headed to the Valley the next day. On arriving in the early hours of the morning she asked a stranger for a little info on him. She found that in order to meet him she would have to wait until the sun had set – something she couldn’t do because of her need to ship Shayla’s things at 5pm.

Stella awoke on the 3rd to find a job right on her door step as a server for the Inn. After acquiring her job she decided she would visit the merchant that was supposed to have set up shop in the shack on the beach. Stella eventually headed off to check out the merchant only to be disrupted once again by Ethan who pointed out none of the occupants of the shack were in. After a few minutes Stella and Ethan’s conflict died down and they managed to have a few sentences of normal conversation, almost friendly conversation, before Stella had to leave.

Shayla awoke and after doing a little work on her farm she headed to Poultry Farm to meet up with Rick. She saw all of the wonderfully fluffy and yellow chicks the farm kept and she also met the rest of Rick’s family. After a few hours they finally set off on her ‘Grand tour’ of the town.

Toya once again stole from Shayla when she picked up the shipment at 5pm. After shipping the rest of Shayla’s things, she headed back to Forget-Me-Not Valley and arrived just as the sun was setting. Completely forgetting about everything, Toya ran down the beach and enjoyed herself for a few moments in the sea. When it finally became dark, she began thinking about the thief only to find the thief had found her before she had even had to look for him. They had a few minutes of friendly conversation before Toya headed back to Mineral Town only to find herself locked out – the reason she had left so quickly in the first place.

The 4th of Spring came around quickly, Toya found herself waking up to the smell of bacon and eggs and then a visit from Stella. Stella and Toya spent a few moments in the doorway of the shack eyeing each other with caution before Toya finally let her in to see Won despite being very uncomfortable with Stella’s presence. Zack and Toya were briefly introduced to Stella before Won brought all the attention of the girl on to him. Toya left promptly for Forget-Me-Not Valley with no intention of returning that night.

Stella bought a bag of expensive Cabbage seeds from Won before returning to the inn with the intention of training the new server. She arrived to find Ethan was the new server. By the end of the conversation they had, Stella was curious about how Ethan could possibly like her even after she had been so horrible to him. They’ve planned to have a ‘friendly date’ at Blue Bar the following night despite the fact Stella doesn’t drink.

Toya arrived at Forget-Me-Not Valley in the afternoon. On arriving, the fact that a man was walking behind her caused her to go into a full blown paranoid panic and she ran to hide for the rest of the day. As the sun set, Skye found her by the Goddess Pond hidden amongst the trees. After telling him nothing was wrong, she managed to convince herself to go stealing with him that night. Although Skye didn’t say anything to Toya because he didn’t want to argue with her over it, it seems he suspects that something is wrong with her.

    Magical Manifests

Stella attempted to walk quickly home without being noticed or followed by anyone. She began to run on hearing a shuffling noise behind her. When she heard the shuffling noise get closer to her she stopped and turned, to find no one behind her despite having felt someone’s hot breath on the back of her neck. She arrived at her house safely but still cautious to lock the door behind her because of all the mysterious murders happening in her neighbourhood. After checking the doors and windows, Stella collapsed on to her couch too tired to go upstairs to her bed.

17-year-old Luna is not as afraid of the night as Stella yet she still tried to slip past everyone queuing for night clubs unnoticed. Eventually, she finds exactly what she is looking for, a quiet park. She Glamoured into an owl and fluttered up into the nearest tree to observe those silly enough to be in the park at midnight. Eventually, she became too tired to continue watching, so she flies to a house with a large tree in the back garden and settles there to sleep.

Storm, the girl who likes the night more than Stella and Luna put together is playing baseball in the park with her brother. He tries to convince her to join the baseball team, but Storm turns him down explaining that she likes to be quieter at school. After the final throw, they head home to the rest of their family and as they are sat on the sofa Storm tells them that her life is perfect because of them.

Stella awoke the next morning after having a nightmare, showered, and headed off to school. Half way to school Stella is stopped by a woman Stella believes is a complete nut job. Stella points her in the direction of the mental hospital, pushes past her and continues on her way to school.

Luna wakes to find trouble quite literally on her door step. She woke and flew back to the nearby park. On Glamouring back into herself, a demon flames in behind her and tells her she’s way too relaxed. Luna filled with anger quickly, despite having felt lonely moments before he had arrived, and Glamoured into a tiger in order to attack him and hopefully kill him. The demon simply flamed away quickly – he was playing games with her. Finding her way onto a school field, Luna feels it is the perfect place for her to find someone to pick her up as a stray and take her home for a few days. She sneaks behind a tree and glamours into a cat. She waited on the field until lunch time only to find herself being the choice pick for a large boy who decided to pick her up by the tail.

Stella saw the boy tormenting Luna, the cat, but decided to stand back for a little while hoping the boy would let it the cat go soon. While she waited, the woman from before came up behind her and suggested she help the cat. She has a strange conversation with the woman and also has to point out that the boy is not tormenting a human but a cat. Meanwhile, Luna is still attempting to use her claws and teeth to get the boy to let go of her. Eventually, Stella comes to the rescue. Even after being put down by the boy Luna does not act like a normal cat and run away, instead she sits at their feet and listens to the conversation they have. Afterwards, Stella picked up the cat and she decides to take her home. Luna hopes for the best and decides not to jump from her arms and leave. On her way home, Stella is approached by the woman again. The only reason the woman did not say much to Stella was because of Luna’s presence.

Storm sat in the hallway of her school after school had ended. The teacher had asked to have another meeting about her joining the school sports team. However, Storm knew before she even entered the class that she was going to decline. Once everyone had left, Storm entered the classroom only to find it was not her PE teacher standing there but an odd man she had not met before. The man turns out to be a vampire, and he decides to have Storm satisfy him before he is going to let her go. He lunges for her neck and she blacks out as a woman with glittery hands entered the classroom.

Sai, who lives in an abandoned town where Vampires prowl the streets at night, accomplishes his daily chores during the day. He re-stocks on food from the supermarket and sends out a message that shines in the night sky. He then, after finishing his work, plans to go to a more populated area and then sets out to practise.

Danielle runs to the newest call for help. Rounding the corner, she finds herself confronting a demon who insists she is too powerful not to be a witch and a dying witch. The demon lunges for her and she orbs to near the witch. The demon lands in a heap and Danielle gets a firm grip on the witch before orbing away with her so that she can heal her.

Stella arrived at her house after saving the cat only to have the woman follow her home and ring the doorbell moments after she had set the cat down on the sofa. The woman begins telling Stella of witches and healers – sadly, Stella doesn’t believe her. However, with a brief introduction and a few compliments thrown at Stella, Stella finally begins to believe her – but only slightly. Stella begins to feel happy that she is important and different. Mean while, Luna becomes bored with listening to things she had been told before and so she decides to look around Stella’s home. Unfortunately, because Stella is being told of demons and witches Luna soon discovers she won’t be safe in her house. As she makes her way to the hallway, the demon that enjoys playing games with her appears and tells her she won’t be safe. Luna tried to attack him despite being a cat and he simply flames away causing Luna to knock a plate to the floor. Unfortunately, Luna forgets about Calista and Stella and glamours into herself in an attempt to save the plate. However, the plate slips through her fingers and smashes. This leads to Calista and Stella running into the kitchen and seeing her there as herself and not as the black cat she came there as.

Luna explains that neither women know her but Stella did bring her to the house as the small black cat. Luna picks up the plate and apologizes before attempting to leave. However, Stella asks Luna to stay and explain what is going on to her – she feel that the smaller age gap between them will help her to understand Luna better then Calista. Luna becomes uncomfortable with the stare Stella gives her in a last desperate attempt to get Luna to stay and so she explains what she knows and introduces herself a little better. She also explains that something big is going to happen or is happening. Luna goes quiet with the mention of it being their job to protect people because she has not once made an attempt to do anything for anyone but herself.

    The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya

The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya role play has been re-started by the Admin who created and suggested the role play. The aim of re-starting the role play is to improve it. The NPC’s should be more interesting and everything will be set up completely e.g. the classes etc.

The old character profile’s thread will be deleted eventually so if you want to use the same character as you had last time either: copy and paste it from the old thread into the new thread or PM Arctic Wolf.

The role play will be open to role play in as soon as the modifications have been made.

    Harry Potter Aftermath

Elincia, Alexandra, Willow, West, Lupa, Catherine, Isabella, Jennifer, Cameron, and Eva were among the many first years to receive a Hogwarts letter this year.

Cameron had most of his supplies by the time he got his letter but he had a few things missing. Cameron used floo powder to get to the Leaky Cauldron and then he went on to Diagon Alley. His first stop was Gringotts. After getting a pouch full of coins he headed over to Madam Malkins to get his robes. Once that was done, he got his wand from Ollivander’s.

Alexandra’s first stop with Mr.Quimbly was Olivander’s to pick up a suitable wand for her. They continued to shop for quite some time before heading back to the Leaky Cauldron. However, on the way back, a cat that seemed to have been terrorizing a shop quite quickly became her cat.

Isabelle and Catherine were the next to arrive at Diagon Alley. The first thing they both did was head to Ollivander’s to get a wand. Lupa soon followed them into Ollivander’s desperate to get her wand first.

Cameron, after finishing all his necessary shopping, decided to hang around Diagon Alley a little longer before heading home. It seems, he spotted Lupa as he wandered around with his sundae.

Jennifer arrived a little later on and her first stop was Madam Malkins to get her robes. Flourish and Blots was her next stop to pick up those much needed lesson books.

After popping into Madam Malkins, Isabella and Catherine headed into the Magical Menagerie. Isabella was convinced she wouldn’t find a suitable owl. However, she found the perfect one towards the back of the shop – much to her mother’s dismay.

Eva was one of the last of the first years to arrive at Diagon Alley to purchase her things. She did so with her brother and she was another of the first years that wanted to get their wands first. After acquiring her wand, Eva and her brother headed to the Menagerie to get an owl for her. They then headed to get some food in the Leaky Cauldron.

Jennifer eventually made her way to Ollivander’s to get her wand and then she headed home with her sister. However, Lupa’s last stop was Flourish and Bolts despite the fact she wanted an owl from the menagerie.

Willow was the very last first year to arrive at Diagon Alley and with the help of her grandfather’s friend she managed to get everything she would need within a few hours.

A few days after every first year had visited Diagon Alley it was time for them to leave for Hogwarts. They separately made there way over to the wall between Platform 9 and 10 in order to get to Platform 9 and ¾. Awaiting them on the other side was the Hogwarts Express. They move their way along the train searching for a reasonably empty compartment. Several of the first year students met and conversed during the trip.

When they arrived they were led into the Great Hall to be sorted. Elincia, Lupa, and Eva were among those first years sorted into Gryffindor. Alexandra, Jennifer and Cameron were among those first years sorted into Slytherin. Willow, Isabella and Catherin were among the first years sorted into Hufflepuff. West was among those sorted into Ravenclaw. They took their seats at their tables and enjoyed the feast before being led to their common rooms.

Isabella unpacked some of her things before heading back into the main room to read in a cozy arm chair. Willow, on the other hand, didn’t have the energy to do anything and so she went straight to bed convinced she would unpack in the morning.

Cameron decided to sit and talk with his mother before going to bed. Jennifer, due to her not paying attention to the prefects on her way up to the dorm, had to ask Cameron to fill her in before she went to her dormitory and climbed into bed faster then she usually did. Alexandra, on discovering that Jennifer was already asleep when she arrived in the dormitory, decided to unpack. After completing that she took out one of her lesson book and read it in the main room. Cameron sat out of the way in the main room so he could practise spells. Once Jennifer had finished reading the book from cover to cover she asked Cameron why they had windows if they were in the dungeons. Cameron and Alexandra then decided to go to their dormitories but before Cameron went to his he gave Alexandra a hug and said that he’d be there if she ever needed him. Alexandra blushed as Cameron left. She then heads to her own bed and she has a strange dream that makes curious.

Elincia had fallen asleep on the train to Hogwarts and hadn’t made any friends beforehand. This made her worry slightly but she was sure that the next day she would be able to make many friends with girls in her dorm room and so she fell asleep with a smile on her face.

Isabella read her transfiguration book in the armchair until everyone left and she eventually fell to sleep. In Isabella’s dream, Derek, one of Isabella’s new friends in a higher year, notices her on his way to sneak out to practise spells and decides to wake her. Then Derek wakes Catherine up, quite early in the morning, and they confide in each other that they don’t sleep well. Derek asks Catherine if she would like him to teach her a few spells seeing as they were up so early.

Jennifer woke up early the next morning to find Alexandra already awake. Instead of conversing with Alexandra, Jennifer decided to read one of her lesson books in the main room of the common room.

Willow spent her morning getting lost in an attempt to find West. Fortunately, West found her as she passed her Common room for the fifth time that morning. He gave her a quick tour of the important parts of the Castle that she would need to know how to get to. He then dashed off to his first lesson and Willow navigated her way to her first lesson. Catherine entered her first lesson, 10 minutes before the lesson was due to begin, and sat next to Isabella and Willow.

    Sphinx's Game

The Sphinx had decided that she wishes to live out her remaining days in peace and so she decides that the Sphinx’s Game is the only way to choose an heir worthy of her job.

Calliope is one of the participants of the Sphinx’s Game. She is a hydra and the night before the game she is playing with her little brother. She tells her brother he has to be faster than her by the time she comes out of the Game. She becomes depressed after he has left knowing that the truth is: she may not come out of the Game at all.

Fensus spends the night before the game doubting her race’s King’s choice. She also spends the night running laps around the forest in her Wolf form. On tiring herself out, she collapses onto the floor and falls into a deep slumber.

Victoria, a faerie, spends the night telling herself that it will all be easy because she would be able to outwit the opponents. After turning down Ishtar’s offer, she sets up a place for her to sleep and sleeps knowing that if she doesn’t get enough sleep her brain won’t function properly.

Ivy is not a participant of the Game and she finds it rather depressing that so many people were taking an interest in the game.

The next day everyone who has decided to participate in the Sphinx’s game was lined up at the entrance with the royals of their kind. They were talking amongst themselves when the Sphinx flew down. She announced the beginning of the game and so it began.

All of the participants ran into the maze. Ivy, on the other hand, watched from a distance and then headed home once they were all inside to see if her family was okay.

    Interviews

This month’s Interviewee is none other than Pyro!

~~ Tell us a little bit about yourself…

Weelll... I live in the UK, spend AT LEAST 8-9 hours a day on the internet... get obsessed with random things for seemingly no reason... And won an award for being 'The quietest and most invisible person in the class' in my english class last year.

~~ I’ve heard you’re a bit of a pyromaniac – what was the last thing you burned??

My hand, when I was making a cup of tea. XDD I'm not allowed to directly burn things... My mum keeps me away from fire. =O But a couple of years ago we got to burn jelly babies in science. That was totally awesome. =D

~~ You started a story on Literary Lounge, Earth Dust, are we likely to see you continue with that? Other than the characters from Kingdom Hearts what else inspired you to write it??

Ahh, yeah, I forgot about that. =O I have the whole thing written up on my other computer, so if I can get on there anytime in the next ten years, I'll try and remember to put it up. =D
And... I doon't know really. Eath Dust was originally an RP I made on the Roleplay forum on Neo. It kinda died, but I loved the concept and when I had to write a story for my english coursework that was the first thing that sprung to mind. I was also obsessed with Kingdom Hearts 2 at the time, and decided to add them into the mix. =3

~~ Out of all of the characters you have ever created, which one was your favourite?? Why??

Oooh. Probably... I don't know, either Pyros and Remus in my story 'Firelight' in the Writer's Lounge on Neo, or Iyistra in my joint Final Fantasy story, also in the WL on Neo. I think Pyros, since she is like... the person I WANT to be. [Including the awesome red hair and she's a brilliant archer]. Remus because he's just awesome. And is hiding something. A BIG something. [Read 'Firelight' to find out. =D]. Iyistra since she has an awesome and interesting history, and future, from what Subaru has planned. =3

~~ Name some of your favourites - songs/bands, books, movies, tv shows, etc. etc. Anything you can think of that you love!

XDD Easier said than done. Be prepared for a probable long list. =3

Song: Humm... Well... At the moment, it'd have to be 'Blue' by Eiffel 65.

Band: Tokio Hotel. Loads of people find them scary, I don't see why. =O

Artist: James Morrison. My mum's obsessed with him, then she took me to one of his concerts, and I've also been obsessed since then. =D

Book: Ahh, tons. Erm... Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It introduces two of my favourite HP characters, Remus Lupin [<3333] and Sirius Black [<33]. My other favourite character apart from them is Severus Snape. =3
OH! And Skulduggery Plesant! One of the most awesome books on earth, and I got to meet the author last year! He's totally nuts but awesome!

Movie: Humm. Probably... either 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' or 'Tron' [Which is quite old, but pure awesomeness. I MADE my parents buy it after playing through Tron's world in Kingdom Hearts 2. =3]

TV shows: Definitely 'Ashes to Ashes' at the moment. 'Tis pure and utter genius. As well as the obvious chemistry between the two main characters, although neither would ever admit it. XDD

Anime: Ooh, Tough one... Tied between 'Beyblade', 'Fullmetal Alchemist' and 'Junjou Romantica' [Which I do not suggest viewing unless over the age of AT LEAST 14. [It's probably higher, but I'm only 14, and I would be ruling myself out. XDD]]

Colours: Red and Blue. Random mix, I know, but I plan to have my bedrom in our next house those colours. =3

School Lesson: English and History. and possibly Media at the moment, 'cause all we're doing is looking through magazines. XDD

Animal: Wolf. And Werewolf. But I don't think that counts as an animal, so yeah, Wolf.

Video Game: Well, this is a toughie. =P Kingdom Hearts 2. No competition. I'm SO glad I decided to pick it up from my library last year. =D

Food: Ooh... My dad's Lasagne. CANNOT be beaten. XD

Youtube Video: Well, at the moment... Charlie the Unicorn. [GO WATCH IT! GOGOGO!] Me and my sister keep saying random quotes from it. [We're going to Candy Mountain! =D]

Video Game/TV programme/Anime Characters: Here we go. This might last a while... Well, Axel and Roxas from Kingdom Hearts 2, Kai Hiwatari from Beyblade, Gaara, Kakashi, Iruka, Shikamaru and Tobi from Naruto, L from Death Note, Yuki from Fruits Basket, Kyouya from Ouran High School Host Club, Edward Elric and Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist, Fai and Kuro-poo from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Misaki and Usagi-san from Junjou Romantica, Gene Hunt from Ashes to Ashes, Gary Oak and Steven Stone from Pokemon, Reno and Balthier from Final Fantasy, Probably more, but I can't think of anything else. =3

Word: Discombobulated. I don't even know if it's an actual word, but who cares? XD

Season: Winter. I was born in December, I'm a winter baby for over here in the UK. =3

~~ If you could go anywhere – where would you go? If you could do anything – what would you do??

Wow, Anwhere? I'd zap myself into one of my stories, or an anime or something. Otherwise, I'd just... go to japan or some other country, I guess. =3
If I could do anything... I would... I'm not sure actually... Probably zap away puppy fat. >< and anthing extra. XD

~~ Tell us what you're ideal world would be like...

Ahh, my ideal world would have every single one of my favourite Anime characters in. And magic. And... and... Fire. Alot of it. XD And all of my awesome NeoFriends!

~~ If you had the power to create a new law for the world what would it be??

Humm... Not sure, not too good with laws... I guess a ban on homework would definitely be awesome. =D

~~ If you could meet one famous person - who would it be and why??

Humm... Vic Mignogna. He's an awesome voice actor to a few of my favourite Anime characters. I've seen a few clips of him at various anime cons, and he seems really funny, and it would be totally awesome to meet him. =D

~~ So, you spend a large amount of your time online - what do you do online??

Humm... I stalk the Neo forums. =3 and constantly procrastinate my homework. XD I often watch totally random stuff on youtube, or read half a ton of stuff on Fanfiction.net.

~~ [Online and Offline] Who are your best friends and why are they your best friends??

Humm... Well my bestest friend offline is Jade. We've been best friends since... Forever, really. Our mums met at a First Time Mums class, and we were supposed to be born on each others birthdays. [I was supposed to be born on the 17th, when she WAS born, and she was supposed to be born on the 11th, when I was born. XDD]
My other best friends offline [In no particular order] are Fiona [We both spend alot of our time in the music classroom. XD] Taylor [She's hilarious. Going mental over a train today, actually. XDD] Natalie [She's in almost all of my classes, and is totally awesome.] Jaydy [Not in any of my classes, but I've known her for ages, since Infant school. We didn't really talk until this year though.] and Sophie [She's only recently moved from America to the UK. She's not in any of my classes either.]

    Online:
Sarvani, 'cause she's just awesome. Helped me with TONS of stuff too. =3 My totally awesomesauceness NeoTwin, right? =D
And David, he makes me laugh alot. =D AND he helps me with alot of my stories.

~~ Describe your perfect outfit for a party.

Urrm... Not sure, I'm not too fond of parties, personally. I generally were a Longsleeved white t-shirt and jeans. [Obviously not the same pari day-in-say-out. I have about 4-5 pairs of each. XD

~~ Tell us, what do you hope to be when you're older??

I'd love to be an author, but I don't believe that my writing is anywhere near good enough to do that. So I'd like to be a games designer or something. =D

Meredith: Don't lie. Your writing is plenty good enough. =]

~~ Is there anything you would like to say to end this awesome interview?? [It's not really that awesome but hey ho]

'Tis an awesomely awesome interview. XD I love answering questions. =D
But... To end... I guess... Have fun reading through my insanely long list of favourites, and being totally and utterly bored by the rest of it! XDD

    Meredith: Thank you muchly Amy!

    Writing Challenges
    THIS IS NOT A CONTEST.

The challenge is to introduce yourself as if you were a character in a book. [If you do not want to introduce yourself you can introduce us to the person you wish you could be]. You must include appearance, personality [to a certain extent], a little background [this can be made up] and a little of their surroundings.

You must write more than 200 words but less than 1000 words.

Once you have written your piece PM it to Roxanne. All pieces PMed to Roxanne will be displayed in the next Newsletter.
