That morning Michie woke up very early. She was excited because it was the day her dad had said she could spend the day exploring. She dressed quickly and put on her gold locket before going out of her bedroom into the main room where her dad - to her surprise was already up and cooking breakfast. "She hasn't forgotten our deal," he thought to himself. Michie failed to realise he was thinking and not actually talking.
"Of course I haven't, today we agreed I could go exploring!" Michie smiled happily and sat at the table. Her dad looked at her strangely.
"Michie, honey, I didn't say you hadn't, in fact I didn't say anything," he said a little worried the move was going to her head and that she was hearing things. Michie didn't say anything through fear it might make things worse. They sat and ate breakfast quietly. Michie was trying to keep her dad's thoughts out of her head but this morning she was just having difficulty doing so. She got frustrated and yelled. The cereal box in the middle of the table tipped over and the electricity went off. "What's the matter, Michie?" he asked, completely ignoring the things that had happened as she yelled.
"Nothing, I was just thinking of the annoying girl at school yesterday," Michie lied. She finished her breakfast up, whilst allowing her dad's throughts to enter her mind - there didn't seem to be a whole lot more she could do. She decided it was practise she needed in order to perfect what she heard and didn't hear. Michie made sure she only responded to her dad when his lips moved.
Once breakfast was finished Michie cleared up quickly and left afraid she might cause some other disaster.
